Kyilla Community Farmers' Market

Initiated by Kyilla Primary School's P&C Association in North Perth, the vision for a Farmers' Market to operate at Kyilla was as much to do with a desire for fresh produce as it is a vision for bringing the community together.

Held each Saturday between 8.00am and 11.30am at Kyilla Park (next to the school), this public market is for everyone and provides:

  • Fresh produce
  • Excellent coffee
  • Fresh juices
  • Famous Bacon and Egg rolls
  • Baked goods
  • Flowers and herbs
  • Meat, seafood and eggs
It’s a lovely way of catching up with school families and community members. Each class is responsible for running the Bacon and Egg stall for a few weeks each year. Parents from the specified class volunteer to do a job such as set up a tent, cook bacon, collect money, scramble eggs, do the washing, and pack away at the end of the day. It sounds like lots of work but we have system and it is actually lots of fun!

Kyilla Farmers Market — Kyilla Clothes Swap

After lots of generous donations of pre-loved clothing from parents the Clothes Swap event, held at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday 24 August, was a huge success. At 8.00am the tables were piled high with clothes ranging from baby to around age 12 and we had a flurry of voucher holders in the first hour to exchange their tickets for 'new' clothes and footwear. A steady stream of visitors came to the stall all morning and at the close of the market about 2/3 of the clothing was passed on to new owners. Halfway through the market we opened it up to non-voucher holders and asked for a gold coin donation raising $121.00 for the P&C. The clothing left over from the swap event was passed on to the Pat Giles Centre, a refuge for woman and children affected by domestic violence, who were extremely grateful for the donation.

Thank you again to everyone who donated clothes and who came to the stall on the day to support the event!
